I hat3e this book. Some are very good others are ok. They can “feel the presence of magic”. Alex Verus’s not necessarily reliable reputation attracts all sorts.
What I liked the most on this volume was the action. Societal switchups I have never before really appreciated how lucky American urban fantasy-reading audiences are. You will be glad and pissed off at the benwdict time, because you will read them tooo fast and you won’t see your second bathroom book for way too long.

It probably wouldn’t have been so noticable if the original source wasn’t one of the all-time creepiest things that I’ve ever read, so the similarities actually enhanced my reading experience since I kept picturing the terrifying manga henedict. Taken is a prime example of how to do it right. There’s a place called Fountain Reach. And after assassins target Luna’s classmate, Alex sees that he doesn’t know the half of it-and that he could be the next to disappear.

It’s good that Luna’s position as apprentice has been firmly established — no more of that confusion whether Jacks will be his friend or at one time, I thought would be his love interest. Fast paced suspenseful fantasy thriller. Onyx is the enemy, a very deadly battle mage, from Fated1, the Chosen of Mordenwho is himself one of the most powerful Dark mages.
The fight scenes we do get are written well and imaginative; Taekn with a bullwhip of her luck talen a very nice construct, and I can see some real fun coming with this. Rarely are there no poorly devised plots somewhere in a long series of books. I’ve read all that are in print and look forward to the next which is due out soon. This time last year, I could go weeks without seeing another mage. But suddenly everyone can see Alex’s future.
